Adamawa State Police Arrest Two Suspected Armed Robbers

The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended two armed robbery suspects who had been on the command’s wanted list since last year.

According to a statement released on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the arrests were carried out by Operation Sanity in Mubi, Adamawa State.

The suspects, identified as Abdulhamid Salihu (alias Baban Anty) and Bello Yahaya (alias Baban Yambiyu), were taken into custody after a robbery incident in the early hours of June 10, 2026, at Unguwar Kara, Mubi.

Along with two accomplices who are still at large, the suspects allegedly attacked Mustapha Ali, injuring him and stealing cash and other valuables.

Police operatives from both Mubi South and Mubi North divisions tracked down and arrested the suspects through sustained intelligence-led operations. Items recovered from the suspects include stolen mobile phones, jewellery, handbags, travelling bags, and weapons believed to have been used in the crime.

The police stated that investigations are ongoing and efforts are being intensified to apprehend the remaining suspects. The Adamawa State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to continuing the crackdown on criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
