Adeniyi Johnson, a prominent Nigerian actor, has issued a warning to the public about an individual based in the UK who is impersonating him online.
The 48-year-old Nollywood star took to his Instagram page on Tuesday to alert his followers, revealing that the impersonator has been reaching out to people with fraudulent business proposals.
Johnson posted a screenshot of a conversation with the alleged impostor, making it clear that he has no connection to the individual or their activities.
“SCAM ALERT! I DO NOT KNOW THIS PERSON OR REPRESENT WHATEVER HE OR SHE STANDS FOR! I HAVE NEVER USED THIS NUMBER… CURRENTLY, I HAVE NO MANAGER OR PERSONAL ASSISTANT!” the actor wrote.
He cautioned the public to disregard any messages or business proposals from the impersonator, stressing, “PLEASE IGNORE CHATS OR BUSINESS PROPOSALS FROM HIM OR HER! I DO NOT KNOW HIM OR HER!”
Johnson also encouraged people to report the phone number associated with the scam, warning that such fraudulent acts could harm his reputation.
PLEASE, LET’S FRUSTRATE THIS NUMBER WITH CALLS AND REPORT IT AS WELL! OUR NAME MUST NOT BE TARNISHED, he added.
Johnson, who is married to actress Oluwaseyi Edun and blessed with children, has appeared in films including Voiceless Scream (2018), ‘Ada Omo Daddy’ (2023), ‘Out of Luck’ (2015), Heroes & Zeros’ (2012), ‘Family Gbese’ (2024), and ‘Seven Doors’ (2024).
