The leader of a vigilance group, Kpufman Migagan, was shot dead on Monday by gunmen in Otokutu junction, Ughelli-South Local Government Area of Delta. Migagan was killed barely five days after Proper Erhinyojare, the Chairman of Udu Vigilance Group, was killed by yet to be identified assailants at Udu, near Warri. Migagan was the Chairman of Igbudu Market Vigilance Group in Warri.
He suspected assailants shot Migagan in a Toyota Siena bus conveying him and his members to Warri. A source said there was exchange of gunshots during which Migagan was killed.
“One of the assailants also died in the gun duel”, the source claimed. CSP Celestina Kalu, Delta Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident. The vigilance group leader was killed on the DSC expressway in Ughelli-South Local Government Area. One of the assailants also died on the spot. Their corpses have been deposited at a morgue in Udu’’, she said, adding that the police would open investigation into the incident.
