The Boko Haram militants went berserk today again killing 18 travelers in Borno state barely hours after some of their fighters abducted over 100 female students in the state. A soldier who was among the squad drafted to the area told SaharaReporters.

Today’s incident occurred in Gwoza when travelers in a convoy of cars into the sect’s road block, well-armed sect members in military uniforms repeatedly opened fire on the helpless passengers and fled before Nigerian troops got to the scene.

According to the soldier, only few passengers escaped to the forest and later appeared when the reinforcement got there.

“We picked 18 corpses back to mortuary. They are very heartless and inhuman boys (Boko Haram) but we are advancing towards their base.”
