Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has named Afrobeats superstar David Davido Adeleke as the Head of Youth Mobilisation for the Accord Party’s campaign council.
Davido, who is a Grammy-nominated artist, shared news of his appointment on his X page. He expressed optimism about the upcoming campaign and pledged his support for Governor Adeleke’s reelection bid.
I have been appointed by the Governor of Osun State, @AAdeleke_01, and flag bearer of the Accord Party as Head of Youth Mobilisation for the Campaign Council! We look forward to a smooth campaign and your reelection, Your Excellency! 4+4, he wrote.
In December, the music star revealed that he had officially joined the Accord Party by receiving his membership card. This announcement followed just two weeks after Adeleke switched allegiance from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the Accord Party.
Since then, the governor has been selected as the Accord Party’s candidate for the 2026 gubernatorial election.
Davido’s new appointment comes only weeks after he expressed uncertainty about his political ambitions.
Previously, I wanted to pursue a career in politics. But now, I see it differently, he said. With all the goodwill, my reputation, my career, and the dedicated fan base we’ve built over the years, it’s a complex decision.
