Henry Okoye, the elder brother of Peter and Paul Okoye, has publicly blamed their sibling and former manager, Jude Okoye, for the longstanding rift within the Okoye family.
In a recent interview with Nollyserve, Henry revealed that the family had supported Peter and Paul—known as Psquare—from the earliest days of their music career, well before Jude became involved as their manager.
When they started music, they were looking for sponsors. They didn’t get any. I was the one who started sponsoring them; Jude wasn’t there, Henry recounted.
We traveled from state to state. They used my car for flyers, and I acted as their bodyguard. As a family, we supported them, but it was always Peter and Paul who owned the dream.
Henry claims that Jude joined Psquare’s management only after the duo had begun making significant progress in the industry. He further alleged that their late mother initially objected to Jude managing the group due to concerns about his character, and that the family only began to experience division after Jude took over.
We wanted to allow Jude to manage them, but my mum disagreed. She said she knew the kind of character Jude had, Henry said. Eventually, after Jude came in, the twins started distancing themselves from everyone. We didn’t realize Jude was the source of the problem.
Henry also stated that he was promised 20 percent of Psquare’s performance fees in recognition of his early support, but claims he never received any payment. “Before all this, they promised me 20% from each show, but nobody gave me anything, he said.
Then Jude questioned why I should get that percentage and accused me of wanting to benefit unfairly. I told him he wasn’t there at the beginning, but now he’s trying to push everyone, including Tony, our immediate elder brother, away from the group.
He added that while Peter and Paul checked on him during a two-month hospital stay, Jude never reached out. “Jude never called me to ask how I was doing.
He doesn’t care for anybody,” Henry alleged. He also mentioned that their youngest sister in Lagos is struggling, stating, “Peter is trying, but nobody else cares.
Henry expressed surprise at Paul’s current attitude, describing him as formerly the “nicest person” in the family, and suggested that Jude’s influence may be a factor.
Regarding a possible Psquare reunion, Henry said he would be happy to see the brothers reconcile but doubted it would happen, blaming Jude for turning the family members against one another. If you want to talk to Peter and Paul, they’ll tell you to go and meet Jude. If Jude says no, that’s the end.
These allegations surface amid renewed tensions among the Okoye brothers, founders of the now-defunct Psquare group. Peter recently accused Jude of excluding him from certain music proceeds, including a specific sum of $25,000, and claimed he is not a signatory on one of the accounts used for royalty payments. Jude has denied any wrongdoing, stating that all income was shared equally. Meanwhile, Paul has announced he is distancing himself from the ongoing feud.
