JAMB announced the mop-up exercise in a statement released on Monday by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin. According to the statement, the 2026 UTME was originally conducted from April 23 to 29, with over two million candidates participating nationwide. However, some candidates were prevented from sitting for the exam because of technical difficulties at certain centres, while others encountered issues with biometric verification or had their results withdrawn due to examination infractions.
All affected candidates have been identified and listed for the mop-up exercise, which JAMB described as the final phase of the 2026 UTME process. The board emphasized that this examination will offer one last opportunity to resolve all outstanding issues for candidates who were genuinely unable to take the test, provided they were present and properly biometrically verified during the initial exam period.
JAMB has advised all affected candidates to print their Examination Notification Slips starting from Saturday, June 6, 2026, and to familiarize themselves with their designated examination centres ahead of the scheduled date. The board stressed that there will be no further opportunity to sit for the 2026 UTME after this mop-up exam.
Additionally, JAMB has released the 2026 UTME results, maintained the minimum admission cut-off marks at 150 for universities and 100 for polytechnics, and opened its portal for candidates wishing to change their course or institution.
