Bruno Fernandes has been advised to consider leaving Manchester United for a club capable of winning major trophies, as former England international Joe Cole believes the Portuguese star receives too much criticism despite his consistent performances.
Fernandes, 29, was instrumental in United’s 3-0 win over Leicester City, scoring once and providing two assists. With his latest assist, he became just the sixth player in the club’s history to register 50 Premier League assists, joining Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, David Beckham, Paul Scholes, and Eric Cantona.

Speaking to Paddy Power, Cole praised Fernandes’ impact but questioned whether he should remain at Old Trafford.
“If I’m Bruno Fernandes, I’d absolutely be looking for a move. He’s dragging United through this dire moment and getting all the arrows while being their best player.”
Cole added that Fernandes deserves to play for a club that can compete for league titles, something United has failed to do in recent years.
“He’s a fantastic footballer who could thrive in most teams, but he’s never won a league title. He needs to prove to himself that he can do it at a top side.”
United’s Trophy Struggles Under Ruben Amorim
Despite his efforts, Fernandes has won just two trophies with United—the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup last season. Under new manager Ruben Amorim, the club is struggling, with the Europa League their only realistic chance at silverware this season.
