The Kano state government has approved the sum of ₦19,019,114,578.50 for the execution of projects in education, health and other sectors in the State.
The approval was made during the 33rd Kano State Executive Council meeting, presided over by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The state Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, in a Statement on Sunday said the Council approved a total of ₦4,931,962,184.11 for the execution of key projects under the Ministry of Education and the Ministry for Higher Education.
The breakdown for the approval includes: ₦308,957,001.00 for settlement of outstanding liabilities due to the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS).
The Council also approved ₦206,015,629.64 for the purchase of two shops adjoining the Engr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso Women Skill Centre and the execution of additional work at GGSS Jakara (Phase II), while ₦1,495,723,188.96 was approved for settlement of debts owed to boarding school feeding suppliers.
Waiya said N139,000,000.00b was approved for payment of expenditure incurred in the production of instructional materials by Kano Printing Press, while b₦2,541,630,723.11 for the renovation of Government Technical College, Ungogo (Phase II).
₦400,000,000.00 was for the procurement of office furniture and fittings at Northwest University, Kano; N140,699,060.00 approved for accreditation exercises at Kano State Polytechnic, while ₦270,906,642.40 was approved for completion and furnishing of the E-Library at Kano State College of Education and Preliminary Studies (KASCEPS).
