After another off night from Mesut Özil, the English media were quick to draw their swords. Not even being substituted at half-time after picking up a hamstring injury was enough to spare the German from the scrutiny following an anonymous first-half performance at the Allianz Arena.
The headline in The Mirror, “Özil and out. £42m Gunner flops again on night of Euro misery”, says it all. It turns out the grass isn’t greener in London, at least not for the time being.
