Mosun Filani, a prominent Nollywood actress, has opened up about her decision to step away from acting.
In a recent interview with BBC Yoruba, Filani explained that she took a break from the film industry to devote more time to raising her children. Now that her children are older and more independent, she feels ready to make her comeback to the screen.
“I stopped acting to focus on my family. My kids are grown; they know left from right, and it is time for me to get back to acting,” Filani shared.
Addressing circulating rumours about her personal life, Filani clarified her marital status. She emphasized that she is not her husband’s second wife, although he was previously married before they met. “I am not a second wife; my husband might have had a marriage before, but I did not meet anyone in his house,” she stated.
Filani is widely recognized for her roles in Yoruba-language Nollywood films. Her acting journey began on stage while she was a student at the Federal College of Education, Abeokuta, before she went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from Tai Solarin University of Education. Since launching her professional acting career in 2005, Filani has appeared in several notable films, including ‘Iku Ewa’, ‘Eri-Ife’, ‘Jenifa’, ‘Iyo Aye’, ‘Ami Ayo’, and ‘Different Strokes’.
