Osun: Davido accuses Oyetola of spreading lies about overvoting

Davido has claimed that Gboyega Oyetola, the ousted governor, is spreading lies about the earlier conducted 2022 Osun state governorship election.

Ademola Adeleke, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who doubles as an uncle to Davido, was declared the winner of the keenly-contested election.

Adeleke secured 403,371 votes to defeat Oyetola of the All Progressive Congress (APC), who got 375,027 votes.

Oyetola thereafter filed a suit and asked the election petition tribunal to nullify Adeleke’s victory.

In the petition dated August 5, Oyetola argued that Adeleke was not qualified to contest and that he was not elected by the majority of the lawful votes cast.

Oyetola also claimed that Adeleke forged the certificates submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and did not comply with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.

These and other claims have pitted him against the Adeleke family, continuing their years-long political rivalry.

In a fresh outburst on Twitter, Davido accused Oyetola of making fresh allegations about “overvoting” in what the singer described as a willful “spreading of lies”.

You’re actually just a bad human being. @GboyegaOyetola, no other way to put it. Spreading lies everywhere [and] destroying ur legacy (not like you even have). It’s done and dusted,” Davido wrote, tagging the outgoing governor.

“@inecnigeria, abeg, is there any such thing as overvoting with your new BVAS machine? Nov 27th. We move.”
