The Lagos State Government has announced a temporary traffic diversion around Anthony Village Bus Stop to enable reconstruction works aimed at providing a lasting solution to recurring road damage caused by heavy rainfall.
In a statement from the Ministry of Transportation, officials confirmed that excavation has begun on the affected section, which will be rebuilt with interlocking paving stones for greater durability and improved flood resistance.
According to the ministry, this intervention targets the repeated deterioration of the road, which has often disrupted traffic flow and created difficulties for motorists during the rainy season. To ensure the project is executed safely and efficiently, a temporary traffic management plan has been introduced for motorists traveling through the Anthony Village area.
As part of the diversion, motorists coming from Fadeyi and seeking to access the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway via Anthony Village will be unable to use this route throughout the construction period. Similarly, drivers intending to use the Anthony Village Bus Stop service lane to connect to Oshodi are advised to stay on the expressway and use alternative access points further ahead. Motorists traveling from Oshodi towards Anthony–Ikorodu Road via Anthony Village should also note that passage through the construction site will not be possible until the project’s completion.
The Lagos State Government encourages motorists to plan their journeys in advance, avoid the affected area, and utilize alternative routes to minimize travel delays and reduce congestion in the project vicinity. The ministry also appeals for patience and cooperation from residents and road users, assuring them that the temporary inconvenience will ultimately lead to better road infrastructure and smoother traffic flow.
Reconstructing the damaged section with interlocking stones is expected to provide a sustainable solution that can withstand heavy rainfall, minimizing the need for frequent repairs. The government reiterated its commitment to improving road infrastructure across Lagos and urged all motorists to follow traffic management instructions during the construction to ensure the safety of both workers and road users.
