American rapper and record producer Quavo has released a heartfelt message to fellow rapper and his nephew TakeOff who has passed away.
Quavo stressed that the word ‘nephew’ was not a strong enough description for the relationship that he had with TakeOff, who was also part of the hip-hop trio Migos.
There has been no action on Quavo’s Instagram account since October 31 when a post was made just hours before TakeOff was shot dead in Houston, Texas.
On Saturday, November 12, the Instagram silence was broken by a long letter shared by Quavo to mourn the passing of his nephew.
The words were over the top of images that showed the duo at various stages of their lives as they grew up together.
“Since we were kids you been by my side lookin up at me,” Quavo wrote, “them eyes waiting on me to make the move. then you followed up right behind me. You always made sure I did it first so you can do it right with me. You never competed with me, we were always on same team.”
There is a shift in the letter where Quavo stops addressing Quavo directly and is instead telling the reading public about his nephew.
“Throughout this whole time he had a REAL passion for music,” Quavo recounts, “it was HIS dream to become a rapper cuz I didn’t kno what I wanted to do. Sports wasn’t his thing cuz he saw me lose all the time.”
