The rivalry between Liverpool and Everton exists in daily life on Merseyside and Richarlison further endeared himself to Toffees fans in the early hours of Friday morning by taking shots at Reds legend Jamie Carragher.
Richarlison is something of a fan favourite at Goodison Park and he would have done his reputation there no harm by taking aim at the former Liverpool defender.
After scoring a goal in a dramatic comeback win over Crystal Palace, a result that allowed Everton to secure their place in the 2022/23 Premier League season, at 01:37 the Brazilian took to Twitter to send some words Carragher’s way.
“Wash your mouth before you talk about me and Everton and I don’t respect you,” Richarlison wrote.

Why did Richarlison come out and attack Carragher?
While starting a war of words with one of your rivals’ legends is never a bad way to win your own fans’ affection, it’s likely that Richarlison‘s tweet was a delayed response to Carragher‘s own comments about him.
In their recent Merseyside derby, the No.7’s on-field behaviour appeared to get under the skin of Carragher, who is known to have supported the Toffees while growing up in Liverpool.
“Honestly, get up, every week I watch him play like that,” Carragher lamented as Richarlison went to ground with an injury.
Get up, carry on. He’s been down three times already, [there’s] nothing wrong with him.”
It seems that those comments wound Richarlison up and that the Brazilian was waiting for Everton‘s survival to be secured before firing back.
