Super Eagles hold Black Stars in Ghana in World Cup play-off

The Super Eagles of Nigeria on Friday played out a goalless draw with the Black Star of Ghana in Accra in the first leg of 2022 World Cup qualifier.

The Ghanaians dominated the game but they could not get past the solid defence of the Nigerian side.

The Black Stars came out smoking in the first half, but the Nigerian side soaked up the pressure and were dangerous towards the end of the first half.

On 33 minutes, Abdul Fatawu wasted a great scoring opportunity to put Ghana ahead, as he latched on to a precise pass and fired a decent first-time shot towards the top of the net from a promising distance, but Francis Uzoho denied him.

On 55 minutes, Moses Simon latched on to an inch-perfect pass deep into the box and unleashed a low drive towards the middle of the goal. The goalkeeper reacts superbly and made a save.

There was a penalty appeal from the Nigerian side as players claimed Iddrisu Baba Mohammed handled the ball inside the box, but after checking VAR, the referee ruled out a penalty for Nigeria.
