Victor Osimhen has been hailed as the ideal striker for Manchester United, with former player Louis Saha urging the club to make a move for the Napoli star. Saha believes Osimhen could be the perfect solution to United’s ongoing struggles in the final third, as the Red Devils continue to face challenges in front of goal during the 2024–25 season.
At present, Bruno Fernandes is United’s top scorer, with 17 goals across all competitions, while Alejandro Garnacho is the only other player to hit double figures. Strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have combined for just 15 goals, prompting fresh calls for another No. 9 to be brought in.
Saha, a former United frontman, has tipped Osimhen as the ideal target, pointing to the Nigerian’s impressive pedigree. Having been a star in France, Italy, and now Turkey, Osimhen is seen as a player with both the quality and character to thrive at Old Trafford.
“He’s scored goals at every level,” Saha said during an interview with Mega Dice. “He’s got Champions League experience, and more importantly, he has the personality and charisma this United squad needs.”
The former French striker emphasized Osimhen’s success in Serie A, where he helped Napoli secure their first league title in 33 years. He also noted the striker’s strong performance during a loan spell at Galatasaray, where Osimhen scored 29 goals, despite initially being reluctant to make the move.
Saha believes the 25-year-old would be a “transformational signing” for the Red Devils, saying: “If you think about the pressure he was under at Napoli, firing the club to its first title in 33 years, he’s the perfect man to lead the line for Manchester United.”
Reports suggest that Manchester United could secure Osimhen for a fee around £50 million ($67m), with talks already underway regarding personal terms.
With Manchester United continuing to search for the right striker to solve their attacking woes, Osimhen could prove to be the missing piece in their puzzle.
