The Cross River State Police have arrested Samuel Sunny Udoh, a 57-year-old farmer, on suspicion of killing two individuals in the Odukpani Local Government Area.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Eitokpah, the police received a missing person report on May 25 from Regina Akan Patrick. She reported that her husband, Akan Patrick, failed to return home after traveling to his farm in Okong community, where he typically spends about a week. All attempts to contact him after his departure were unsuccessful.
Following an investigation, police arrested Udoh. During interrogation, Udoh allegedly confessed that in November 2025, Akan Patrick and another man, identified as Mr. Imoh, confronted him on his farm and demanded 14 bags of cannabis sativa he was cultivating. Udoh claimed the men were armed and intended to intimidate him. He said he reported the matter to community leaders, but their investigations found his claims unsubstantiated, leading to the release of the two men after questioning.
Udoh further stated that while escorting the men away, a confrontation occurred, during which he pushed both into a river, resulting in their drowning. He admitted he did not inform the police about the incident, citing his involvement in illegal cannabis cultivation as the reason.
ASP Eitokpah confirmed that the suspect will be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
