Timi Dakolo, the acclaimed Nigerian singer, recently expressed his thoughts on how people often reserve their kindest words for others until after they have passed away. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Dakolo lamented that many wait until someone is gone before publicly appreciating them.

Dakolo’s comments came in the wake of an outpouring of tributes from figures in the entertainment industry following the reported death of actor Alex Ekubo. Ekubo, who passed away at the age of 40 after a long battle with cancer, was widely mourned by colleagues and fans alike.
Since the news broke, numerous celebrities have taken to social media to share their shock and fond memories of Ekubo. Uzee Usman wrote, Honestly, I can’t relate to my God… why do good souls go early. This one pains me o. RIP Alex. Rita Dominic expressed her grief with a heartbreak emoji on X (formerly Twitter), while Kate Henshaw reacted: I just heard terrible news!! Father Lord, please. She added, I had no idea. Been sending chats, no response… I just decided to give him some breathing space, not knowing.
Born in Port Harcourt on April 10, 1986, Alex Ekubo began his acting career in 2003 with a role in the TV series ‘Sinners in the House.’ Over the years, he went on to star in numerous Nollywood productions, leaving a lasting legacy in the Nigerian film industry.
