Nigerian skit maker Nasboi has faced a torrent of criticism after sharing a social media post that many deemed irresponsible.
Nasboi, who initially gained popularity with his comedy skits before venturing into music, recently expressed his frustration on X over Nigeria’s deteriorating security situation.
His reaction followed the abduction of more than 40 people in Oyo State, an event that has unsettled many Nigerians.
In a now-deleted post, Nasboi uploaded a video featuring armed men in desert camouflage, riding motorcycles and firing weapons into the air. He tagged President Bola Tinubu’s official X account in the post.
Although his intent seemed to be raising awareness about the nation’s security crisis, the post received significant backlash.
Many X users accused Nasboi of stoking fear instead of encouraging constructive discussion. Some criticized him for lacking a nuanced understanding of Nigeria’s security challenges, while others claimed he had circulated misleading or outdated footage.
