Sodiq Yusuf, the Nigerian rapper popularly known as CDQ, has asserted that artists only receive support in the music industry if they are affiliated with a specific caucus, gang, or cult.
In a recent interview with Jbrandy Entertainment, the hitmaker of ‘Nowo E Soke’ contended that independent artists lacking these connections often find it challenging to achieve a return on their investments.
The harsh reality of the music industry is that it has become a place where you must belong to a particular group or gang before anyone is willing to assist you,” the rapper stated.
He added, “If you manage to succeed as an independent artist without such affiliations, you should be truly grateful. Otherwise, you may end up investing significantly without seeing any rewards.”
CDQ gained significant recognition after releasing his hit single ‘Nowo E Soke’ in 2015, which featured Grammy-winning artist Wizkid.
Over the years, he has established himself as a leading indigenous rapper in Nigeria, known for his unique ad-libs, including the well-known ‘Woss Wobi.’
In November 2016, he further advanced his career by founding his own record label, N.S.N.S (No Struggle No Success Entertainment).
