Mikel Finally Leaves Chelsea, Joins Chinese Super League

Nigerian Midfielder John Obi Mikel has finally left Chelsea after 11 years with the club. The Nigerian National team captain looks to have completed his move to Chinese Super League side Tianjin TEDA after completing and passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.

Mikel was offered a three-year contract worth £140,000-a-week to follow his former Blues team-mate Oscar to China

The 29-year-old was believed to have been keen on staying in Europe with his young family and looked set to join Valencia having turned his back on the Chinese Super League initially but the lure of a mega increase on his current £85,000-a-week contract appeared to have swayed his mind

Mikel joins the likes of former team-mate Oscar, who made a £60m switch to Shanghai SIPG this month, and Carlos Tevez who became the world’s highest paid player after completing his China move.

The Olympic Bronze medal winner did not play a single minute of football under new boss Antonio Conte

He won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, the Europa League and the Champions League during his time with the Blues.
