The 11 Premier League clubs not participating in European competitions this season have learned their opponents for the second round of the EFL Cup.
According to the Premier League website, the draw conducted on Tuesday features several all-Premier League encounters. Chelsea will host Luton Town, Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn at home to Charlton Athletic, and Southampton are set to face West Ham United at St. Mary’s.
Other notable matchups include Newcastle United welcoming West Bromwich Albion, Nottingham Forest taking on Leeds United, and Sheffield Wednesday playing Wolverhampton Wanderers. Everton are set for an away trip to Preston North End, Brentford will visit Birmingham City, and Fulham will play host to AFC Wimbledon.
The second-round draw was split into northern and southern sections, with fixtures scheduled for the week commencing August 24—between the first two Premier League Matchweeks.
The nine Premier League clubs involved in UEFA competitions this season will enter the EFL Cup at the third round.
The tournament features all 92 clubs from the Premier League, Championship, League One, and League Two.
Second-round ties will be decided in a single leg, with penalty shootouts used to settle any matches level after 90 minutes.
