“Criticism? I Don’t Care” – Ruben Amorim Shrugs Off Pressure After Man United’s 4-3 Loss to Newcastle

Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim has made it clear he’s unfazed by criticism after the Red Devils suffered a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Newcastle on Sunday, marking their 14th league loss of the season.

The result leaves United languishing in 14th place with just six games to go, but Amorim insists that losing matches stings more than any media backlash.

“I understand [the criticism], but I don’t care,” Amorim told Reuters. “Nothing is worse than losing games. People can say whatever they want to say.”

The Portuguese coach pointed to key moments in the game particularly a lapse early in the second half as areas his team must address.

“When we suffer the second goal in the beginning of the second half, we went down. We need to be better in these moments, we need to control it.”

Amorim had rotated his squad heavily, making five changes and giving Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir his Premier League debut. While Bayindir’s blunder led to Newcastle’s fourth goal, the coach refused to place blame.

“Even if we put a different XI, we don’t know the result. We are going to analyze the game, but we need to focus on the next one.”

All eyes now turn to Thursday, when United host Lyon at Old Trafford for the decisive second leg of their Europa League quarter-final. With the tie finely balanced at 2-2, Amorim and his squad have a golden opportunity to shift momentum and restore belief.
