Danjuma was the only Nigerian to start the game as all others were named to the bench as Brugge ran riot in Gents own backyard at the prestigious Ghelmaco Arena.
Gent started young Canadian star Jonathan David ahead of misfiring Liverpool loanee Taiwo Awoniyi
After about half an hour of play it was Danjuma who opened the scoring. The player who is subject to a tussle between the Nigerian and Dutch football federations took the ball from his own half and ran all the way before firing into the roof of the net.
The dazzling wing back also delivered the assist for Brugges 2nd goal early in the 2nd half when he sent in a cross for Man of the Match Wesley Moraes to fire home.
Wesley would go on to score 2 more goals completing his hat trick.
Taiwo Awoniyi was introduced by Gent for Roman Yaremchuk in the 68th minute as they searched for goals and then just 3 minutes after Brugge replaced Nigerian goal scorer Danjuma with his Compatriot Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure.
The other 2 Nigerians at Gent Anderson Esiti and Phillip Azango were on the bench for the duration of the game.
