At least one person was killed and five others wounded in a series of shooting attacks across Israel on Sunday, according to authorities.
Emergency service Magen David Adom reported that a man, approximately 35 years old, died from gunshot wounds. The service added that five more people were treated and transported to hospitals, with two in serious condition and three in moderate condition, all suffering penetrating injuries.
Police said they located a vehicle believed to be involved in the attacks and fatally shot a suspect near the town of Kokhav Yair, just a few kilometers from the occupied West Bank. Rescuers reported that shootings also occurred in the nearby towns of Tzur Natan and Tzur Yitzhak. The Israeli military told AFP that one perpetrator had been killed and that a search was underway for a second suspect.
Following the attacks, Israeli security forces gathered at a petrol station near Kokhav Yair, where the shooting incident took place on June 7, 2026. The office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he had conducted a situational assessment and was closely monitoring developments.
Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir commented on X that, if the terrorist is caught alive, he will be executed, referencing a recently passed law allowing the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of deadly anti-Israeli attacks. Jewish blood is not cheap. Whoever murders a Jew will see the hangman’s noose, Ben Gvir stated.
