Godin ends up with a black eye after Suarez altercation

Atletico Madrid knocked out Barcelona in the quarter-final of the Champions League on Wednesday night, and the match was not devoid of controversy.

The tie was full of bad tackles and Barcelona had a late penalty appeal turned down, while there was further drama as Diego Godin and Luis Suarez collided in the penalty area.Going up for a header, Suarez caught his fellow countryman with a stray elbow, with a strong enough force to leave Godin with a swollen, black eye.The Atletico defender implored the referee to punish Suarez, who in turn went over to check on Godin to see if he was okay.In the end, Godin recovered and helped his team see the game out, to go through to the semi-finals.
