Carl Erik Rinsch, the director of 47 Ronin, has been arrested on charges of fraud and money laundering after allegedly misusing $11 million from Netflix, according to BBC News.
The Netflix Deal Gone Wrong
Netflix initially funded $44 million for Rinsch’s sci-fi series White Horse, but no episodes were ever completed. In 2020, he convinced Netflix to send an additional $11 million, which prosecutors say he used for personal extravagance rather than production.
