Ahead of their high-stakes UEFA Champions League semifinal clash with Arsenal, PSG manager Luis Enrique has made a jaw-dropping revelation his team hasn’t practiced defending set pieces, despite Arsenal’s reputation for being deadly from them.
This bold move has raised eyebrows, especially with Arsenal’s set-piece maestro Nicolas Jover masterminding several goals from corners and free kicks this season. From Declan Rice’s curling free kicks to Kiwior’s bullet headers, the Gunners have made set pieces a core weapon.
But Enrique remains unfazed.
“No, I haven’t planned to work on set pieces because I’ve known Arsenal for a very long time,” he told RMC Sport.
“We want to win every trophy playing our way… No team is perfect, and neither will we be.”
While some see this as tactical arrogance, others believe it’s sheer confidence in PSG’s system and philosophy.
Will Enrique’s gamble pay off or will Arsenal’s set-piece prowess expose a costly oversight?
Who do you think has the edge in this semifinal?
