Manchester United pulled off one of the most dramatic comebacks in European football history with a 5-4 extra-time thriller over Lyon in the Europa League quarter-final.
United stormed to a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals from Manuel Ugarte and Diogo Dalot, only to see Lyon fight back with two quickfire goals in the second half. Things went from bad to worse in extra-time as Lyon made it 4-2, seemingly dashing United’s semifinal hopes.
But the Red Devils weren’t done.
In an unbelievable final six minutes, Bruno Fernandes kick-started the comeback with a penalty in the 114th minute. Then Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire delivered back-to-back goals in injury time, sending United fans into a frenzy.

Incredibly, United became the first team in major European competition history to score two goals in the 120th minute of a match.
The result also marks only the second time in the club’s history they’ve won a game 5-4, the first being against Arsenal at Highbury in 1958.
