Masari gifts APC singers Rarara, Yusuf Baban N80m for new houses

Aminu Masari, the governor of Katsina state, has compensated Dauda Rarara and Yusuf Baban, two popular pro-All Progressives Congress (APC) singers, with the sum of N80m to secure new houses

Rarara’s house was set ablaze by thugs in March during the governorship election in Kano.

Baban’s studio and his restaurant in Kano were also vandalised.

In a memo, Saminu Soli, acting on behalf of the commissioner of the ministry of budget and economic planning, approved the allocation of funds.

Addressed to the accountant general of the state ministry of finance, with copies sent to key officials, the memo outlined the allocation of N50 million for Rarara and N30 million for Baban.

It also stressed the urgency of the situation and requested swift action.

“I am directed to convey approval for the release of (N80,000,000.00) only to the accountant general payable to the Secretary to the Government of the State,” the memo reads.

“Governor’s being KTSG Assistance to Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi Rarara and Baban Chinedu to secure alternative accommodation for their families in the aftermath of attacks by Political miscreants on Monday, March 20, 2023, in Kano as follows:

“Alhaji Dauda Adamu Abdullahi (Rarara), N50,000,000.00, Baban Chinedu N30,000,000. Total N80,000,000.00. The Vote of Charge is 022000700100/22040109.”

The governor’s gesture comes barely a week before the inauguration of the new administration.

Rarara and Baban became for their performances during the campaign rallies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano.
