Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he is in excellent health following successful treatment for early-stage prostate cancer.
Netanyahu explained that he postponed the release of his medical report to avoid providing material for propaganda during the ongoing conflict.
In a statement shared on his official X account Friday, Netanyahu revealed that a small malignant tumor was detected at a very early stage during routine checkups. The tumor was treated successfully and without complications.
Thank God, I am healthy. I am in excellent physical condition, Netanyahu said, noting that the issue was fully resolved after targeted treatment.
He further clarified that the publication of his annual medical report was intentionally delayed by two months to prevent Iran from exploiting the information for propaganda purposes.
I asked to delay its publication so that it would not be released at the height of the war, so as not to give the Iranian terror regime more opportunity to spread false propaganda against Israel, he explained.
Netanyahu said the cancer was discovered during follow-up checks after surgery for a benign enlarged prostate 18 months ago. Doctors later identified a small, less than one-centimeter spot, which was confirmed to be malignant but had not spread.
They told me this is very common among men my age, he said, adding that he was offered the choice of ongoing monitoring or immediate treatment.
You know me – when I receive timely information about a potential threat, I prefer to deal with it right away, both for the country and personally, Netanyahu said. He chose to undergo a series of short treatments that allowed him to continue working without interruption.
I went for a few brief treatments, read a book, and kept working. The spot disappeared completely, he recounted.
Netanyahu expressed gratitude to the medical teams at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem for their care and urged citizens to prioritize their health.
Take care of your health. Get checked and follow your doctors’ advice, he urged.
He closed his statement with words of support for wounded Israelis and a Sabbath greeting: On the eve of Shabbat, I pray for the peace of our wounded in body and soul… Shabbat Shalom.
