Pogba at risk of missing the 2022 World Cup

Paul Pogba’s return to Juventus was supposed to allow him to rediscover his best form and happiest self, but his second spell in Turin couldn’t have started worse.

The France midfielder suffered an injury to the lateral meniscus of his right knee, and now his 2022 could be over, meaning the Qatar World Cup is at risk.

La Gazzetta dello Sport had reported that Pogba could miss two months’ action, but reports on Thursday suggest that he could be sidelined for even longer.

Juventus want the player to undergo surgery, but that would rule him out of the World Cup, which runs from November 21 to December 18. Going under the knife could see him out for four months.

The Old Lady are yet to confirm how long they will be without the midfielder, but two months is expected to be the minimum.

The club are consulting with trusted medical professionals to find the best options, and they are trying to avoid a swift medical procedure that could lead to further complications down the line.

The World Cup, though, poses a problem as Pogba does not want to miss the chance to defend France‘s crown.
