Anita Asuoha, popularly known as Real Warri Pikin, has issued a heartfelt apology to her husband and Nigerians following criticism over a viral video in which she jumped on singer Timaya during his recent performance.
The incident occurred on Saturday at the AFRIMMA festival held in Dallas, Texas, where Real Warri Pikin was honoured with the ‘Best Stand-Up Comedian’ award, and Timaya was one of the performing artistes.
In the widely circulated footage, the comedian is seen joining Timaya on stage as he performed his hit song ‘Ukwu’. At one point, Timaya lifted her off the ground, a moment that quickly went viral and sparked backlash from some Nigerians who deemed it inappropriate for a married woman.
Responding to the criticism, Real Warri Pikin addressed the issue on her Instagram page with a video captioned, “Abeg make una nor vex.
She explained that she had been enjoying Timaya’s performance backstage when he invited a woman to join him. Acting on impulse, she joined him on stage, not anticipating what would unfold next.
She admitted that she hesitated when Timaya attempted to lift her but eventually went along after he pleaded with her not to disrupt his performance.
Nigerians, please take it easy on me, I’m really sorry. I take full responsibility for my actions. Na me put myself for this one o,” she said in pidgin English.
She recounted: If Timaya wan perform that him song, Ukwu, him must bring woman come out make him carry her… I dey backstage dey vibe when e dey perform when he say make a lady come out. And you know me na. When it comes to vibe, anything I dey. Na him I rush come outside. Na me put myself for this one.

She also revealed that her husband was not pleased with the incident. Real Warri Pikin, who often shares aspects of her family life on social media, has been married to Ikechukwu Asuoha since 2013, and the couple has three children.
