RMD Reflects on Ageing: It Feels Like I’m Living a Bonus Life

Nollywood veteran Richard Mofe Damijo, popularly known as RMD, recently shared his thoughts on ageing and gratitude for life.

Speaking on The Morayo Show, the 65-year-old actor reflected on surpassing a milestone his parents never reached, revealing that neither of them lived to see 60.

Being 65, I feel like I am living on extra time, RMD said. My life is one of gratitude. I’m happy to be alive and to be Nigerian at a time when more people are self-employed than ever before. I eat right and exercise, but I also live by advice from another elder: the only way for an old person to stay young is to never let the old person in.

RMD also spoke about his fashion sense, noting that he makes a conscious effort to maintain a classy appearance regardless of age. “I do not in any way let the old person in. I could have been dressing like an old person, but I choose to keep it classy. My eldest child is 43, and, to this day, he still hisses at my outfits. But I’m not backing down now. There’s no way I’m going to give up,” he added.
