Roma start the Mourinho era with Abraham inspired win

Veni, vidi, vici. I came I saw I conquered. Tammy Abraham will have to learn the Roman lingo as he inspired Jose Mourinho’s Roma side to an opening day 3-1 win over Fiorentina.

The 40-million euro man shone on his debut at the Stadio Olimpico, as he was brought down by Fiorentina goalkeeper Bartomiej Dragowski outside the box as he rounded the No.69, who was then sent off.

Moments later Abraham got an assist for Henrikh Mkhitaryan as Roma took control.

Things started to go awry for the Giallorossi who had Nicolo Zaniolo sent off for collecting two yellow cards, and as they couldn’t add to their lead and Nikola Milenkovic bagged an equaliser for Fiorentina on the hour mark.

Parity didn’t last long though, as Jordan Veretout put Roma back in front four minutes later, thanks to an Abraham assist. Then Eldor Shomurodov set up the former Fiorentina man for his second.
