The United States has released the list of eligible countries for its 2025 Visa Waiver Programme (VWP), with notable exclusions including the United Kingdom and all African nations such as Nigeria, Ghana, and South Africa.
While the list largely remains unchanged, Romania’s addition marks a significant update. The US continues to prioritize countries with strong diplomatic ties and border security measures.
According to the US Bureau of Consular Affairs, the Visa Waiver Programme allows citizens of participating countries to travel to the US for tourism or business for up to 90 days without needing a visa. However, travelers must have a valid Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) approval before departure.
The updated 2025 VWP includes 40 countries, simplifying visa-free entry into the US for millions of travelers.
