Arsenal have set their sights on Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his attack this summer. According to The Athletic, the Gunners are developing a strong interest in the prolific striker, with new sporting director Andrea Berti a keen admirer.
Gyökeres presents a more cost-effective option than Newcastle’s Alexander Isak, while RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko is also on Arsenal’s radar but has multiple suitors. The Swedish forward has been in sensational form, scoring 85 goals in 92 games for Sporting, including eight in his last five appearances. In the Primeira Liga, he has netted 30 times in 26 matches, alongside six goals in eight Champions League games.
Although his contract runs until 2028, it remains unclear how much Sporting would demand for their star forward. Meanwhile, Sporting continue their title charge and face Rio Ave in the Taca de Portugal semi-finals, while Arsenal prepare for a crucial London derby against Fulham.
