Oluwatosin ‘Mr Eazi’ Ajibade, the renowned Nigerian singer, recently shared that his late mother, Ifeoma, never witnessed any of his live performances before her passing in March 2025.
In a candid conversation on the Brut Podcast, Mr Eazi revealed that while his mother was deeply supportive of his musical journey, she never attended his shows.
He explained that her conservative nature and dislike for travel made it challenging for her to see him perform, especially as his career frequently took him around the globe.
“She was very conservative in her life in general. Even to travel, she didn’t like to travel,” he said. “Like, even to just go from Lagos to Accra, and the more my career went further, the more I was travelling across the world to do shows.”
Mr Eazi also mentioned that his father first saw him perform in 2017 or 2018, and may have only attended one show. “The support from them has always been in terms of prayers, calling in,” he added.
Beyond music, Mr Eazi is a co-founder of pawaPay, a fintech company operating in Africa. He also leads emPawa Africa, a record label, and launched Choplife, a betting company, in 2024. In 2025, Mr Eazi married Temi Otedola, the daughter of prominent Nigerian businessman Femi Otedola.
