Tope Osoba, the acclaimed Nollywood actress, was laid to rest in Ogun State after a burial service held on Thursday.
Her passing, announced on August 5, came nearly two years after her breast cancer surgery in November 2024.
Following her death, Osoba’s family initially scheduled her burial for August 13, 2026, after hosting a candlelight procession and an artiste tribute night in her honour on August 11. However, the burial was postponed to allow for further arrangements and address unresolved matters.
On Thursday, Osoba’s remains were taken from Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu to Akesan Club, Iperu Remo, where the burial service was conducted.
She was later interred at Iperu Remo Cemetery, with family, friends, and colleagues dressed in white paying their final respects. Notable attendees included fellow actors Foluke Daramola, Kunle Afod, Joke Jigan, and Basira Badia.
In the wake of Osoba’s death, online reports speculated that her demise was due to emotional distress rather than cancer. Further allegations accused her fiancé, Itunu Onadeko, and his family of mistreating her during her illness. The Celestial Church of Christ (CCC), where Onadeko serves as a shepherd, has since launched an internal investigation into the circumstances surrounding Osoba’s death.
Osoba began her entertainment career as a dancer before transitioning to acting in the early 2000s. Her filmography includes notable titles such as ‘Gucci Girls’ (2012), ‘Accident’ (2013), and ‘Ifedolapo’ (2015).
