ASAP Rocky made a bold statement at Rolling Loud California 2025, declaring himself a contender in hip-hop’s Big Three. The Harlem rapper headlined the festival’s opening night on March 15 in Inglewood, delivering a high-energy set—despite showing up fashionably late.
Midway through his performance, Rocky stunned fans by hanging onto a helicopter several feet in the air, rapping a preview of an unreleased track that referenced the genre’s biggest rivalry:
“Now see, I really can’t decide how I’ma pick a side/ I ain’t on Cole, I ain’t on Drake, I ain’t on Kendrick’s side.”
Clearly alluding to 2024’s explosive feud between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole, Rocky made it clear he wasn’t taking sides, instead rapping, “I choose homicide, they gon’ see a different side.”
The drama between these rap titans has been ongoing, with Drake previously throwing shade at Rocky on “Family Matters,” referencing his fashion choices and Rihanna, the mother of his two children. In response, Rocky fired back on “Show of Hands”, a track from Future and Metro Boomin’s WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU.
Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar also seemingly acknowledged ASAP Mob when he rapped about ASAP Relli on Playboi Carti’s “GOOD CREDIT.” Given Rocky and Relli’s legal issues and past friendship, the bar may not have been coincidental.
While Rocky’s set wasn’t his most polished performance, it set the stage for his upcoming album, “Don’t Be Dumb,” slated for release in 2025. If a proper tour follows, fans can expect the Fashion Killa to fine-tune the chaos into something even more electrifying.
