Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed plans for a collaborative album with American R&B legend Chris Brown, slated for release in 2027.
The Grammy-nominated artist shared the news during a recent appearance on the Swift Conversations podcast, noting that while the timeline could change, he’s excited about the project, which has been in the works for some time.
Davido emphasized that his current music is very African, highlighting his renewed partnership with his original producers from Nigeria. The music I am making now is very African. For this next project, I’m working with a lot of my original producers from back home, he explained.
He added, I’m still an American, so there will definitely be collaborations. Chris Brown and I got an album coming next year—hopefully.
In recent interviews, Davido has reiterated his commitment to an authentically African sound, moving away from chasing Western trends.
Davido and Chris Brown have a longstanding creative partnership that dates back to 2019, when they first teamed up on Davido’s hit single Blow My Mind. That same year, Brown featured Davido on his song Lower Body.
Their collaborations continued with the co-writing of Under the Influence in 2019, which also involved Tiffany Mckie and Nigerian producer KDDO. The duo reunited in 2020 for Shopping Spree alongside Young Thug, then again in 2022 for Brown’s Sensational, and most recently in 2024 on the track Hmmm.
