Fire has razed at least 40 apartments at Ijeh Police Barracks in Obalende, Lagos state. The cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be determined.

On 29 August, a police inspector and his wife fell from the balcony of their apartment on the second floor of a two-storey building during a fight at the same barracks. The officer died who sustained some serious head injuries died on arriving a hospital while doctors are battling to save his widow who are still in intensive care unit.
