The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Water Board, FCTWB, on Monday began mass disconnection of Abuja residents who owe arrears of water bills.
Mr. Michael Adebayo, Acting Director of FCT Water Board, announced this in Abuja.
He said that the exercise became necessary due to the number of consumers that were reluctant to pay their bills.
The exercise will begin at the board’s office in Area 3, Garki, Abuja.
“Water is life and a lot of investment goes into ensuring that Abuja residents get clean, potable water supply.
“But people should also cultivate the attitude of willingness to meet their corporate social responsibility to government by promptly paying their water bills.
“Presently, we generate less than 40 percent of our revenue and that is not good enough for the services we provide,” he said.
Adebayo said that a special task force had been set up by the board to carry out the exercise and advised the residents to immediately pay up their bills to avoid disconnection. Read more
