Real Madrid have announced the signing of Spanish left-back Marc Cucurella from Chelsea for a reported fee of 55 million euros ($63.8 million).
In an official statement on Monday, the club confirmed that Cucurella has agreed to a six-year contract, keeping him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 30, 2032.
Cucurella, 27, joined Chelsea in 2022 after spells at Brighton, Getafe, and Barcelona, where he came through the academy. Currently representing Spain at the World Cup, Cucurella is the sole Real Madrid player in Luis de la Fuente’s squad.
The announcement comes after Florentino Perez’s recent re-election as Real Madrid president, following two trophyless seasons, and the appointment of Jose Mourinho as head coach.
The club is also expected to sign Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate upon the expiration of his contract, while being linked with Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva and Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries.
During his time at Chelsea, Cucurella won the Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League in 2025. He had two years remaining on his contract before making the move to Madrid. Last season, Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League, with Cucurella expressing criticism over the decision to sack Enzo Maresca in January.
