Comedian Officer Woos refutes claims of announcing Broda Shaggi’s death, warns of possible legal action

Nigerian content creator Jubril Oladapo, popularly known as Officer Woos, has refuted allegations that he announced the death of his colleague, Broda Shaggi.

Recently, an X (formerly Twitter) user claimed in a post—accompanied by Broda Shaggi’s photograph—that Officer Woos had announced Shaggi’s passing on Instagram. The user wrote: Officer Woos just announced the passing away of his brother Broda Shaggi via his IG page. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

In response to the viral claim, Officer Woos shared a screenshot of the post on his Instagram Story, labeling it simply as False.

On Saturday, his legal team, Versed Attorneys, issued an official statement condemning the reports as false, malicious, and defamatory. The statement read: “We act as Solicitors to Mr. Jubril Oladapo Gbadamosi alias ‘Officer Woos’ (‘our Client’), a respected content creator and public figure, and write this statement in response to false and malicious publications currently circulating on social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter).

It has come to our client’s attention that certain unverified and anonymous social media pages have published claims alleging that our Client publicly announced the death of a close colleague on his official page.

Our client has never announced the death of any colleague, friend, or associate on any of his platforms. These publications are entirely manufactured and constitute a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

The statement also addressed another widespread rumor alleging that Officer Woos had been arrested for drug trafficking. “We hereby unequivocally state that both claims are entirely false, fabricated, and without any basis whatsoever. Our client has never been arrested, investigated, charged, or in any way connected to allegations of drug trafficking, at any point in 2025 or at any other time,” the statement clarified.

Citing Nigerian laws on defamation and cybercrime, Versed Attorneys warned that those responsible for spreading these claims could face legal action. The firm demanded an immediate retraction and public apology from all parties involved within 48 hours.

The death rumor comes about three months after Broda Shaggi was falsely reported to have been shot while filming at Sango-Ota Bridge in Ogun State in March 2026. Since then, Broda Shaggi has not publicly addressed the earlier shooting speculation.
