Doubts have emerged over whether Erling Haaland will honour his contract at Manchester City, with former club captain Richard Dunne questioning if the prolific striker will stay for the full decade-long deal.
City have reportedly secured Haaland’s services until 2034, a rare long-term commitment in football. The 24-year-old Norwegian has already cemented himself as a crucial part of the club’s present and future, scoring an incredible 118 goals in 136 appearances since joining in 2022.
Will Haaland Stay for 10 Years?
Despite his success, transfer rumours linking him to Real Madrid and Barcelona refuse to go away. Speaking to GOAL, Dunne acknowledged Haaland’s immense impact but cast doubt on his long-term stay:
“It’s unheard of, a contract that length. It’s exceptional that he’s got something like that… but things change an awful lot in football, and 10 years is a very long time.”
Can Haaland Break Every Record?
If Haaland remains in the Premier League for the next decade, he could rewrite history. With 83 goals already, he is on track to challenge Alan Shearer’s all-time record of 260. However, Dunne cautioned that maintaining such form for 10 years is no easy feat:
“It looks like he’s the one that would break Shearer’s record… but consistency over a period of time isn’t easy.”
City fans will be hopeful that Financial Fair Play investigations and continued interest from La Liga giants do not lead to an untimely departure. If Haaland stays, he could become the greatest goalscorer in Premier League history.
