Nigerian singer Qing Madi has accused her former record label, JTon Music, of intentionally removing her song from Spotify.
The 19-year-old artist aired her grievances on Instagram Stories on Tuesday, alleging a pattern of harassment by the label designed to derail her burgeoning career. Madi drew comparisons to singer Cynthia Morgan’s widely publicized dispute with the same label, suggesting she is now facing similar obstacles.
According to Madi, JTon Music removed her track Pepper Me featuring Zinoleesky and KFMD from Spotify due to its strong performance. She also claimed the label had previously filed a $1 million lawsuit against her, which they lost.
My ex label the same people that tried to destroy Cynthia Morgan—are trying to do the same to me, she wrote. It’s hurting you that I didn’t give up even after you sued me for $1 million and lost. I don’t come online to complain; nobody knew about this before. I just keep pushing my music. Now, this babe took down KFMD’s record from Spotify because of how well it was doing. I’ll resolve it, don’t worry—the song will be up again.
Madi stressed that she rarely addresses such matters publicly, preferring to focus on her music. Just because I choose to keep quiet doesn’t mean I care about protecting your image, she continued. I just want to make music. I’m 19 years old, bro—let me be.
The singer, whose debut album I Am the Blueprint was released in January 2025, directly tagged the label’s account, @joytongo, pleading, Leave me alone!!!
As of press time, JTon Music had not publicly responded to the allegations.
