Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh has openly shared her sorrow over the absence of her mother, commemorating her memory with a heartfelt message on Instagram.
Marking her mother’s remembrance day, Dikeh described it as one of the most painful days of her life. Despite the pain, she emphasized her decision to honor her mother’s life rather than grieve her loss.
“Today is one of the most painful days of my life,” she wrote. “But walking in God’s grace has taught me to trust Him and surrender to His will, even in the midst of my deepest pain.
So instead of mourning the woman death took from me, I choose to celebrate her—her strength, her beautiful heart, her unwavering faith, and the grace with which she lived before God. Today, I celebrate my mom.”
Dikeh also reflected on living 37 years without the experience of calling anyone ‘Mom’ and the significance of that word. She urged her followers to treasure their parents while they are still alive: “If you are blessed to still have your mother, honor her. Love her. Appreciate her. Call her. Hold her tighter. Forgive small disagreements. Cherish the ordinary moments, because one day, those little fights and gestures of love may become the memories you long for most. Love your parents. Honor them while you still can.”
She concluded with a moving tribute: “Mom, wherever you are, I hope you know you are loved, missed, and forever in my heart. Love and light.”
