Van Nistelrooy Reacts as Leicester City Relegated from Premier League: “No Regrets, But We Fell Short”

Leicester City boss Ruud van Nistelrooy has spoken out following the club’s confirmed relegation from the Premier League, admitting his side simply couldn’t keep pace with the rest of the league.

Despite a bright start to his tenure including a debut win against West Ham the Foxes failed to sustain momentum, managing just one win in the following games. Their fate was sealed after a defeat to Liverpool, capping off a season of underperformance for the 2016 league champions.

What Van Nistelrooy Said:

“It’s very disappointing, it’s been weeks leading up to this. We always kept fighting for every bit of hope we had,” Van Nistelrooy said.

“I expected to get more points than I was able to get. There were good performances Brighton, Liverpool but we didn’t show consistency. The gap between promoted sides and the rest was just too big.”

The Dutchman emphasized that every decision he made was in the club’s best interest and had no regrets despite the outcome.

“I’ve done everything in the interest of the club, and I wouldn’t change anything. It’s my job to make decisions before, not after. No regrets.”

With five games left, Van Nistelrooy says he remains committed to finishing strong and preparing for next season, as Leicester look ahead to life in the Championship.
